Leaders Of World Class Facilities For Young People Come Together At The Showroom.

Monday, 19th March 2012

Young People from local academies meet Tim Loughton MP and Karl McCartney MP at The Showroom. The first official Myplace Conference took place at The Showroom on Wednesday 14th and Thursday 15th March.  The two day event brought together Myplace youth projects from across the country, giving delegates the opportunity to share best practise on all matters from engaging young people to measuring impact.

The conference welcomed Tim Laughton, Minister for Young People to speak and take questions from delegates. When speaking about the importance of Myplace facilities and their place within society, Mr Loughton MP said, “Young people are 20% of the population, 100% of the future.  Myplace Centres are a place for local organisations to come together for the benefit of young people.  The Showroom is a great example of that with local colleges, schools and uniform groups meeting here.”

The Showroom, run by Lincolnshire YMCA, is your local Myplace centre in Lincoln.  Therein lays Lincolnshire’s largest climbing wall, salon, recording studio, activity centre with sports cage, dance mats, party room and arcades, as well as contemporary conferencing spaces and a design agency.  Membership is free and young people aged 11-25 can use The Showroom during all open hours, whilst families are welcome to take advantage of the facility at weekends.

Myplace Centres are designed to provide great places for young people, whilst generating their own revenue to be reinvested in youth provision.  For more information of Myplace centres visit www.myplacesupport.co.uk
